ICSE Syllabus for Class 7 Chemistry 2020-21

Fundamentals of Chemistry

The students will learn the basics of atoms, ions, elements, and compounds. They will learn about protons, neutrons, electrons, and the electronic configuration of atoms. They will understand the differences between an atom and an ion and will be introduced to the concept of charges and how to contribute to compound formation.

 Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures

the students will learn about different elements’ nomenclature and property. They will also know how compounds are formed and how compounds are different from mixtures. They will briefly introduce the subject’s complication related to complex compound and mixture formation at the end of the chapter.

Physical and Chemical Changes

the students will learn about different forms of physical and chemical changes. They will know the way to differentiate between the two. They will be trained to look into their surroundings and demarcate several changes. They will also be taught about the outcome of such changes.

Air

In the chapter on air, the students will learn about the composition of various air’s predominant gases. They will also learn about the implication of such a scenario. They will learn about different kinds of air pollution and its effect on humans and other plants’ and animals’ lives. The students will also be trained to perform several home-based experiments on air.

Water

In this chapter, the students will learn about the composition of different forms of water. They will also learn about water as a universal solvent and be introduced to different solutions concepts. They will learn about several chemical reactions related to water. They will be introduced to several water pollution concepts and will have thought-provoking sessions associated with the amelioration of it.

Acid, Bases, and Salts

Although the students have been introduced to the concept of charges and ions in the first chapter, they will learn about acid, bases, and salts in the last segment. In this segment, the students will closely understand the formation and properties of these three concepts. They will know about several chemical reactions, with particular emphasis on the reaction conditions. These concepts will be essential in understanding and performing chemical reactions in lab practicals in the subsequent classes.
