Unit‐1,   Chapter 1: Geography as a discipline:

Geography as an Integrating discipline, physical Geography and natural sciences, Geography and social Sciences. Branches of geography branches of geography (based on systematic approach) physical Geography, human geography, Bio geography. Physical Geography and its importance.

Chapter ‐2 : The Origin and evolution of the earth

Unit – 2,   Chapter – 3: Interior of earth

Sources of information about the interior direct and indirect sources, earthquake, earthquake waves, types of earthquake, effects of earthquake, structure of the earth(crust, mantle and core), volcanoes and volcanic landforms.

Unit – 2, Chapter 4: Distribution of ocean and continents.

Continental drift‐ continental drift theory of wegener, evidences in support of the continent, distribution of earthquake and volcanoes, concept of sea floor spreading, plate tectonics, force of plate movement and plate boundaries, movement of the Indian plate.

Unit – 3,   Chapter‐ 5: minerals and rocks

Formation of minerals, physical characteristics of minerals, major minerals and their characteristics. Metallic and non‐metallic minerals, rock(petrology) types and their characteristics (igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic) rock cycle.

Unit‐2 ;  chapter ‐2 : structure and physiography

Chapter – 3 : Drainage system

Organic system:‐ concept of river basin, watershed, drainage system of India, types of drainage, the Himalayan drainage and its evolution, the river system of the Himalayan Drainage the indus system, the ganga system, the Brahmaputra system, the peninsular drainage system and its evolution, river system of peninsular Drainage, river regions and extent of usability of river water,( map work).
